Winter has always been my least favorite season. I long for the days when I physically feel connected to nature through bare arms, legs, and feet. When it snowed here this past January, however, I remembered how there's beauty even in the most sullen of seasons.

As the snow fell and covered the neighborhood in white, I tried to capture the feeling by improvising on one of my synth VST plugins. It didn't work, so my next idea was to make an album entirely of field recordings of the snow, like what Steve Roden did with "Forms of Paper." That, too, didn't work, so I abandoned the project to experiment with generative music--music that writes itself. Like I did with one of my previous albums, "Sound Bath," I recorded loops of various notes using a piano VST, and arranged the loops in a way that (hopefully) the melody would keep changing the longer you listened. When I listened to the results, all I could think about was that snowy day, so I decided this project would be my winter project.
